Who says work and play can't mix?
This project started from a simple observation: people respond better when progress is visible, rewarding and a little bit competitive. The goal was to rethink how everyday sales activities could be tracked and turned into something more engaging.
Competition was already part of the culture. Sales reps were comparing results, chasing top spots, and pushing harder to close deals or revive cold leads. Over time, these informal “Sales Olympics” drew the attention of leadership, who saw the potential to turn this behavior into a structured system that could scale across teams while reinforcing performance and company culture.
Introducing: The Sun Portal
At its core, the product was designed as a central dashboard where sales reps could track their progress toward quarterly goals in one place. Performance data that was previously scattered across teams was brought together into a single, shared system.
To keep engagement high, Sun Points were introduced as a reward mechanism tied directly to sales activity. Points could be earned through ongoing campaigns and exchanged at the end of the fiscal year for cash rewards, company merchandise, charity donations, or gifted to colleagues.
Project kick-off: Primary Flow
Employees accessed the app via company SSO, allowing quick access to campaign rules, progress, and rankings.
The core flow was intentionally simple:
Log in → Main dashboard → Campaign details.
This made onboarding effortless for new users while staying efficient for repeat use.
Additional features were introduced gradually, guided by real user feedback.
Accelerator Badges Feature
To increase engagement and healthy competition, accelerator badges were introduced as a secondary game mechanic.
Users earn these badges by completing side quests, and they provide temporary advantages like Sun Point multipliers or improved client discount thresholds, leading to improved sales performance.
Next Evolution: OMS Integration, Custom Leaderboards, Advanced Analytics, Player Levels and more were explored as natural extensions of the platform.
All future features were intentionally designed to be rolled out gradually, allowing validation through real usage before increasing system complexity.
