When social media teams need to react in real time, traditional design workflows start to break. Waiting on a designer, preparing visuals in advance or publishing generic updates often means missing the moment entirely.
To address this, we set out to build a system that allows social media managers to create on-brand visuals independently, without sacrificing brand consistency. The goal was not to replace designers, but to remove them from real-time pressure.
By structuring design into a reusable, controlled framework and leveraging familiar tools such as Canva, 888sport gained the ability to respond faster to live sporting events, while keeping brand standards intact across all markets and channels.
The result was a shift from reactive publishing to real-time participation in the conversation.
888sport positions itself as a challenger brand, playing the underdog. The rough, street-inspired visual language reflects that attitude and helps the brand stand out in a crowded category.
Beyond aesthetics, this style proved highly flexible. Its layered, collage-like structure made it ideal for mixing elements, reusing assets, and assembling new compositions quickly.
By leaning into these qualities, we were able to turn an expressive visual identity into a practical system, one that supports speed and experimentation while maintaining consistency across markets, formats, and moments.
As a result, hundreds of new templates are generated each year, fueling thousands of social posts, stories, covers, ads and campaign assets across formats and channels.
This shift enabled faster reactions to live events and significantly increased output tenfold without adding design overhead.
Social engagement increased by 60% in a single month, driven by speed, relevance and increased content output.
Regular updates to shared asset libraries and basic user training ensured smooth adoption.
By implementing a simple but strict set of rules we made sure that no matter what, templates remain as on-brand as possible.
Creating new templates became faster and safer, without compromising visual consistency.
Social media managers gained the ability to produce on-brand visuals on demand, without relying on designers for every variation.
By eliminating request queues and approval delays, teams could respond to live sporting events in real time, when engagement mattered most.
Design ownership shifted upstream. Instead of producing assets manually, the design team defined the system, curated the library, and set the rules that kept output consistent at scale.
This approach allowed speed, quality and control to coexist, turning design into infrastructure rather than a service layer.
